This policy explains what personal information ABD Inspections collects through abdinspections.com and when you contact us, how we use and share it, and the choices and rights you have.

1. Who we are

ABD Inspections is the inspection brand of American Building Development, a licensed California contractor (CSLB License #1060736). We provide balcony and deck inspections — including SB 721, SB 326, and San Francisco Section 604 inspections — and related repair, reconstruction, and waterproofing services in California. In this policy, “ABD Inspections,” “we,” “us,” and “our” mean American Building Development acting under the ABD Inspections brand.

This policy covers abdinspections.com, the requests you send through it, and your calls and e-mails to ABD Inspections. It does not cover other websites, including other websites operated by American Building Development, which have their own notices. Cookie choices and opt-outs of sale/sharing made on this website apply to this website only.

2. Information we collect

Information you give us

• Inspection quiz (“Do I Need an Inspection?”): the type of property; which structures it has (such as balconies, decks, stairways, walkways, or porches) and how many; the number of units; the type of soffits; your name, e-mail address, and phone number; and, if you add it, the property address. The result the quiz shows you is sent with your answers.
• Free assessment request forms: your name, your phone number, and anything you write in the message field. The form on our Contact page and blog articles also asks for your e-mail address, the type of property, the property address, and the service you need. The form on our city pages also asks for your role (for example, property owner, HOA board member, property manager, tenant or resident, or real estate agent) and the type of property.
• Calls and e-mails: your phone number or e-mail address, what you tell us, and details of the communication, such as its date and time.
• Customer records: if you become a customer, information about the property and the work we do for you, and records of our communications about it.

We do not ask for sensitive personal information — such as Social Security, driver’s license, or financial account numbers — through this website. Please do not include it in a message.

Information collected automatically

• Always — needed to run the site and deliver your request:
• When you send the quiz or a form, our website stores your IP address, your browser and device type (user agent), the address of the page you sent it from, and the date and time, so that we can deliver your request and detect spam and abuse.
• To add an approximate location (city, region, and country) to the notifications our team receives about a request, our website looks up the IP address of the request with the IP geolocation service ip-api.com.
• Our web host, Hostinger, and its content delivery network process technical data about each visit, such as IP address and browser details, to deliver and protect the site.
• A first-party cookie, adc_consent, remembers your privacy choices. Your browser’s session storage remembers, for the rest of your visit, whether you closed the announcement bar at the top of the page, and briefly keeps the confirmation shown after you change your privacy choices.
• Analytics — by default in the United States, elsewhere only if you allow it: Google Analytics measures how the site is used: the pages you view and how you use them (for example, scrolling, time on page, and the buttons, links, and FAQ items you click), device and browser type, approximate location derived from your IP address, clicks on phone and e-mail links, progress through the quiz, and completed requests with the type of service selected — not the details you type. If your browser is set to a United States time zone, it runs from your first page unless Global Privacy Control or your sale/sharing opt-out applies; you can switch it off at any time with Cookie settings.
• Only if you allow Advertising: Google Ads, the Meta Pixel with the Meta Conversions API Gateway, and CallRail call tracking collect identifiers stored in your browser, ad click identifiers, campaign parameters, the pages you view, and interactions such as button clicks, clicks on phone and e-mail links, and completed requests. With Advertising permission, the quiz and the forms also send, along with your request, the campaign parameters (such as utm_source) and ad click identifiers (such as Google’s gclid and Meta’s fbclid) contained in the address of the page from which you send it, and that page address. Without it, these are removed and the page address is stored without its query string.

The site is set up so that the details you type into the quiz and forms — such as your name, e-mail address, phone number, address, and message — are not sent to analytics or advertising providers. Every cookie and similar technology, its provider, and how long it lasts are listed in our Cookie Notice.

3. Sources of information

We collect personal information directly from you; automatically from your browser or device, as described above; from providers that help us run the website and track calls, such as CallRail; and from people who contact us about a property, such as a property manager, HOA board member, or real estate agent acting for the owner.

4. How we use your information

We use personal information:

• to respond to your request, follow up on your quiz results, prepare quotes, and schedule and carry out inspections and related work;
• to contact you by phone or e-mail about your request, your appointments, and the work we do for you;
• to deliver new requests to our team and keep track of them;
• to keep the website and our forms secure and to detect and prevent spam, fraud, and abuse;
• to understand how the website is used and to improve it — by default for visitors in the United States, who can switch it off at any time, and otherwise only with your Analytics permission;
• to measure which ads and pages lead to calls and requests, and to support our advertising, for example by showing our ads to people who have visited this site — only with your Advertising permission, and never while Global Privacy Control or your opt-out applies;
• to keep business, licensing, tax, and legal records, to comply with the law, and to enforce our agreements.

Legal bases

Where the law that applies to you requires a legal basis for using personal information, we rely on the steps you ask us to take and the services you request (for example, answering your request and carrying out an inspection); our legitimate interests in running, securing, and improving our business and website and in keeping business records; your consent for analytics and advertising technologies, which you can withdraw at any time; and our legal obligations.

Marketing messages

Permission to receive marketing e-mails or text messages is separate from your cookie choices and from your request: allowing cookies does not sign you up for marketing messages, and you do not need to agree to marketing messages to request an inspection. This website does not currently offer a sign-up for marketing e-mails or text messages.

5. Cookies and similar technologies

Advertising uses strict opt-in for every visitor, wherever you are: advertising technologies do not load, run, or store identifiers in your browser before you allow them, and visiting or scrolling the site does not count as permission. Strictly necessary technologies always run, together with the maps described below, which are part of the pages that show them. Analytics: if your browser is set to a United States time zone, Google Analytics runs by default — without Google signals and without ad personalization — and you can switch it off with Reject non-essential or Cookie settings; it does not start on its own while Global Privacy Control or your sale/sharing opt-out applies. For visitors elsewhere, Analytics stays off until they allow it. On your first visit, a notice lets you Reject non-essential, Accept all, or Manage choices to allow Analytics and Advertising separately. Rejecting is as easy as accepting, and you can request an inspection either way.

Your choice is stored for up to 12 months in a single first-party cookie, adc_consent, which records your choice, the time you made it, and the policy version it applies to (your browser may delete it sooner, for example when you clear site data; we then ask again). You can change or withdraw your choice at any time with Cookie settings at the bottom of every page. A withdrawal stops new optional activity in this browser and removes the optional cookies this site can access; it does not delete information that providers have already received. Maps on some pages are provided by Google and OpenStreetMap and are not controlled by these settings. Our Cookie Notice explains each category and lists every technology, its provider, and how long it lasts.

6. Who receives personal information

We disclose personal information only as described below.

• Service providers and tools that run our website and handle requests:
• Hostinger, our web host, which also provides the site’s content delivery network and our e-mail, including the mailbox where notifications about new requests arrive;
• an automation service built on n8n (n8n.abdtech.cloud), which receives a copy of every quiz and form request — including requests flagged as spam — together with the IP address, browser details, page address and, only with Advertising permission, campaign information, so that our team can process it;
• Telegram, which delivers notifications about new requests to our team, including the details of the request, the page it was sent from, the IP address and approximate location, and — only with Advertising permission — campaign information;
• ip-api.com, which receives the IP address of a submitted request and returns an approximate location;
• Wordfence, security software that screens traffic to protect the website.
• Our team: staff of American Building Development who handle requests, inspections, and related work.
• Analytics and advertising providers: Google (Google Analytics — by default for visitors in the United States and otherwise with your Analytics permission; Google Tag Manager and Google Ads with your Advertising permission); and, only with your Advertising permission, Meta (Meta Pixel); Stape, which runs the Meta Conversions API Gateway server (capig.stape.st) that forwards events to Meta; CallRail, which provides call tracking and handles calls to tracking numbers; and unpkg.com, a public code delivery network from which a Meta script is loaded.
• Map providers: when you view a page with a map, Google (Google Maps) or — on the Service Areas page — OpenStreetMap and unpkg.com (which delivers the Leaflet map library) receive your IP address, browser details, and the address of the page. Google may set or read its own cookies.
• Legal and safety reasons: authorities, courts, or others when the law requires it, or when needed to protect rights, property, or safety.
• Business transfers: a buyer or successor if our business or its assets are sold, merged, or reorganized.

The Google Ads account, Meta Pixel, and CallRail account used on this website are also used for other websites operated by American Building Development. Information collected here with your Advertising permission may therefore be combined with information collected on those websites.

7. “Sale” and “sharing” of personal information

When you allow Advertising, the advertising technologies on this website give Google, Meta (including through Stape), and CallRail access to identifiers and browsing activity on this site. California law may treat this as a “sale” of personal information or as “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising. The categories of personal information involved — now and in the 12 months before this update — are identifiers (such as cookie identifiers, ad click identifiers, and IP address) and internet or other electronic network activity (such as pages viewed and interactions with the site).

You can opt out at any time, without creating an account, by selecting Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information at the bottom of any page. The opt-out also works without JavaScript, through the form in our Cookie Notice, and applies to this browser on this website. We also treat a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal from your browser as a valid opt-out for that browser: while it is on, Advertising stays off and cannot be switched on here, and once we have received it, we keep the opt-out on record for this browser. Choosing “Accept all” or a later change in our technologies does not cancel an opt-out. Analytics remains a separate choice that you can allow or refuse.

8. How long we keep information

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy, based on these criteria:

• Requests (quiz answers, form details, notes, and communications): kept in our request records. Requests marked as won or lost are deleted automatically 12 months after we receive them; other requests are currently kept without a fixed deletion date. Information we need for legal, licensing, tax, and accounting obligations or to resolve disputes is kept as long as those obligations require.
• Technical data stored with a request (IP address, approximate location, browser, and page address): kept and deleted together with the request.
• Submissions identified as spam: currently kept in our request records without a fixed deletion date, so that we can recover requests flagged by mistake and recognize repeated abuse; our team is notified about them like other requests.
• Copies of requests in our mailbox, in team notifications (Telegram), and in our automation service: kept until we delete them; there is currently no automatic deletion.
• Your privacy choices: the adc_consent cookie lasts up to 12 months from your latest choice; a new choice replaces the earlier one, but a recorded opt-out of sale/sharing stays in place.
• Analytics and advertising cookies: for the periods listed in our Cookie Notice, and only while the category is on — Advertising after you allow it, Analytics by default in the United States or after you allow it. Information that providers have received is kept according to their own retention practices and the settings of our accounts with them.

9. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live and the laws that apply, you may have the right to:

• know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose, and get a copy of it;
• ask us to correct inaccurate personal information;
• ask us to delete personal information, subject to exceptions allowed by law (for example, records we must keep);
• opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and of targeted advertising (see “Sale” and “sharing”);
• appeal our decision if we decline your request, where the law gives you that right;
• not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.

10. How to make a privacy request

E-mail info@abdinspections.com or call 916-269-5277. To protect your information, we will ask you to confirm details we already have — for example, the e-mail address or phone number you used — before we act on a request to know, correct, or delete. An authorized agent may make a request for you with your signed permission; we may ask you to confirm your identity directly with us. We will respond within the time required by applicable law and tell you if we need more time or cannot fulfill a request, and why. The opt-out of sale/sharing described above does not require an account or verification.

11. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

Our website does not respond to “Do Not Track” browser signals, because there is no common standard for them. It does honor Global Privacy Control: a GPC signal keeps Advertising off and counts as an opt-out of sale/sharing for that browser, as described in “Sale” and “sharing”.

12. Children

This website is intended for adults, such as property owners, property managers, HOA board members, and residents. It is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16 or sell or share it. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us so that we can delete it.

13. Security

We use administrative, technical, and physical measures designed to protect the information we handle — for example, this website uses encrypted (HTTPS) connections. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

14. Links to other websites

Our website links to other websites, such as the license lookup of the Contractors State License Board. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices; please review their privacy policies.

15. Changes to this policy

When we update this policy, we change the “Last updated” date at the top. If we add optional technologies or new purposes, we will ask for your choice again before using them; an existing opt-out stays in place.
